What To Expect
Initial Session
When you first come to our clinic you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire that will assist us in reviewing your need for seeking osteopathy. Following an interview, we will assess active and passive ranges of motion and alignment and perform postural tests. Moving onto the treatment, we will test positions, mobility, and motility.
The number of required sessions will depend on each individual case, such as acute or chronic. Most of the time, three or four sessions are required to see progress. Nevertheless, we often see progress following the first session.
At the follow up session, we will discuss how the integration went, reassess, and continue with the aim of the treatment. Some remedial exercises will be suggested, and, in some cases, you may be referred to other Health Practitioners who are specialized in remedial exercises.
For Your Treatment
I recommend for women to wear a sports bra and light fabric leggings or shorts.
Men should bring a type of soccer short or swimwear (loose clothing, no pockets and no zippers)
If you are not a water drinker, it is highly recommended that you begin drinking more water right after the treatment.
What is Osteopathic Treatment?
Cranial · Structural · Visceral
During your first appointment and in any subsequent session(s), you may receive any of the below osteopathic treatments following the clinical assessment conducted by your Osteopath:
Musculoskeletal and Nervous System Assessments
Musculoskeletal disorder or pain following injuries. Pain including joints, ligaments, muscles. Maybe caused by repeated motion and creating repetitive strain, bad posture, or exertion.
Manual Therapy
A range of ‘hands-on’ techniques may help all tissues in the body.
Body Function Assessments
Movement, postural, and positioning advice, as well as ergonomic assessments.
Cranial Osteopathy
A large part of my assessment and treatment. Cranial osteopathy is a subtle type of osteopathic treatment that has an effect throughout the body. Cranial osteopathy is suitable for all ages and any conditions. A cranial osteopath feels the very small fluctuation of movement within the body called involuntary motion. Cranial Osteopathy use highly trained sense of touch to feel subtle changes of tension and tissue quality of the whole body.
Please note that we do not diagnose as we are not Physicians. Osteopathy is a manual practice utilizing the body’s natural ability to self-regulate. Anatomy and physiology are interrelated, and as each person is unique, their treatment is also unique.
Please wear comfortable, loose clothing – you may bring something to change into.
